Animals of Wonderland

The Heritage Foundation, Inc., a non-profit foundation, will produce a program of live entertainment of dancing and singing called  Animals of Wonderland.  The event will be held on March 30, 2013 at the Paramount Theatre in Goldsboro, N.C.  For tickets contact the Paramount Theatre at www.goldsboroparamount.com  or call (919) 736-8444. This will be a community based variety show for the entire family to enjoy.  Dancers from the Top Hat Studio, a subsidiary of the Heritage Foundation; local youth involved in dancing studies; and local celebrities will perform various dances in the program.  Encore Entertainment, a local singing group; Miss North Carolina 2012, and other local talents will sing during the performance.

Choreography will include dances and music related to animals based on an original script referencing the original version of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll .  Funds raised from the admission tickets for the performance event will be donated to the local Humane Society and the Wayne County Animal Shelter to provide fenced in runs for the animals housed at the shelter and to pay for pet food for people in the community who cannot afford pet food for their animals.  In addition to the performance event, a parade will be held on the morning of the event in downtown Goldsboro to showcase the needs of the Humane Society and Animal Shelter as well as to showcase the rich talent that exists in performing arts in Wayne County, N.C.  High School and college students who perform in the event will be granted scholarships to pursue studies in performing arts.

The Heritage Dance Foundation will also be working with the national animals program, Ballroom Barks, organized and created by Ms. Bonnie Diaz.

Rehearsals begin August 1, 2012 for all dancers involved in the event and continue until March 30, 2013.  Rehearsals will be held at the Zwerling Performing Arts Center (ZPAC), a restored theatre recently acquired as a subsidiary of the Heritage Foundation.  This grant application seeks funding for the Animals of Wonderland program to assist with costuming, licensing/trademark costs, BMI Music Rights, advertising costs, and lighting for the Zwerling Performing Arts Center for rehearsals.
